Sara Washbush is a working artist. She has taught, administered, made, and been in business. Sara pursued fine arts with a focus in metalsmithing, gaining her BFA in 2001 and MFA in 2005. She held the position of Eastern Regional Coordinator for the Ontario Crafts Council from 2008-2010. Her first business was her home-based metalsmithing studio offering unique production jewellery and personal commissions. After she initiated her second business venture, a home staging and redesign business, her studio focus became more inspirational and less commercially based. She now works in various media (metal included) and teaches select private students. Her work can be found in the collections of the Royal Ontario Museum, the City of Ottawa, and private residences in Canada, the USA and England. Publications include: 500 Metal Vessels; Craft Perception and Practice Volume III; 1000 Rings; 500 Brooches. Sara is always interested in speaking engagements and seminars relating to art/craft/design, business, motivation, work/life balance, productivity and organization.

Simply put, my work is about life. I am interested in the emotions and commonalities people share, and I am constantly amazed at how  even the most mundane event or feeling can become supercharged once transferred into object form. I use the drama of our experiences to explore both the light and dark cycles of life: birth, death, union, separation, redemption, and so on-- the good, the bad, and the beautiful.
